Primarily consisting of the letters of English and Scottish artists, this correspondence spans one hundred and fifty years. Ranging in content from dinner invitations to discussions on the Royal Academy and Crystal Palace, the letters often reference specific works of art. In addition to correspondence, some folders also contain sketches, photographic portraits, engravings, and obituaries. Materials are arranged alphabetically by artist's last name; there is one folder of unidentified portrait photographs at the end.
